Abstract

Today, with increasing population, in most developed countries, livability is considered as a principle in the framework of sustainability. Sustainability means the ability of an environment to meet the biological needs of residents, both material and immaterial, in order to improve the quality of life and create an environment for the flourishing of citizens' capabilities. It is argued that livability assessment can help implement some of the new urban plans with a variety of approaches by providing a descriptive method for assessing urban environments and their quality. Creating a happy urban atmosphere has also been one of the demands of experts in recent decades. Therefore, paying attention to issues related to the quality of urban life and livability is felt as a basic need in developed societies. The feeling of satisfaction and happiness is one of the basic characteristics of individual and social life, which is directly related to living conditions and social relations. In this study, urban spaces and the relationship between them were evaluated through components such as flexibility, readability, physical diversity and permeability. The concept of viability and evaluation of the above factors were examined. Based on the theoretical foundations and theories presented by experts as well as studies conducted in relation to the good city, solutions (mentioned in the findings section) were introduced. They can be useful to some extent in solving problems and creating a pleasant urban space for residents. By understanding the needs of mothers and their children in the urban environment and considering spaces for leisure, creating a safe space for the use of bicycles, while creating a suitable collective space and applying diversity in different ways in the city, also increases air pollution. Convenient routing, etc., each of which is a subset of efficient urban components, are the resulting solutions.

Highlights

Considering the factors of perceptible spaces, which include flexibility, readability, physical diversity and permeability, in line with the theoretical foundations and theories of a good city in each case, the topics presented in Table 5 were presented. In order to implement these strategies, which include paying attention to the needs of mother and child, predicting leisure spaces, not creating environmental pollution, ease of navigation, creating correlation, connection with the urban structure environment, creating gathering spaces, creating variety of form and color in Urban landscape, the use of bicycles, etc., which ultimately in order to improve the quality of urban life and ultimately create a happy city.

The present study has been done by identifying and examining the variables of physical diversity, readability, flexibility and permeability that directly and indirectly play an important role in improving the quality of life and creating happiness in urban spaces. Humans are the audience of urban spaces that are always influenced by understanding the environment around them and transmit it to other people in society. According to the researches and studies done, it can be acknowledged that urban spaces in terms of psychological and sociological discussion in the formation of collective life provide this opportunity to people with different age and gender groups (generality) at any time and without any restrictions, so that through social interactions, they can significantly improve the psychological level in the society by defining space for special people, reducing tensions and spending leisure time. Accordingly, the design of urban spaces requires flexibility to increase the level of coexistence between city residents. Readability is another variable that plays an important role in people's experience as well as their perception of the urban environment, and a close relationship can be made between this variable and spatial quality. By examining this variable, it is concluded that creating a safe and ideal urban space creates a sense of belonging, which requires a cohesive urban structure and, most importantly, ease of navigation through the creation of spaces for residents' communities. Obviously, the inhabitants of such cities receive their cognitive maps from the environment and easily find their way.
